What Is The Best Reason To Hook Your Wii Up To The Internet?

Online play, buying games, reading the news, getting FW updates?
I’m still not connected to the Internet (I mean my Wii isn’t), but I don’t care. Am I missing out on too much?

Wiiware, and Wi-fi gaming are the main reasons. While exchanging friend codes can be a hassle, it just takes a few seconds. Mkwii and Brawl are great to play online, even with Brawls infamous lag.
With Wiiware there’s a lot of classic games from back in the day you can buy, and play on the wii. Great feature.

No your not they claim to have virtually no lag in super smash bros brawl, but for me it is impossible to play the lagg is too intense
the only upside is the internet channle which you have to pay for

  • Luigi Time!

  • yes u are, oh yes u are, hook it up asap

    To download games from:
The WiiWare channel. (new fun games)
The Virtual Console channel. (old classics)
And to play some online games with other people from around the world, in games like Mario Kart and Super Smash Bros Brawl.

You’re not missing too much. Online gaming on the Wii is pretty pathetic. You need to exchange friend codes, which can be rather annoying.
The only reason I have the Wii connected to the internet is to buy some old classic NES/SNES games that I didn’t get the first time around. I was just a kid back then.

Not much. Being able to download old-school games is pretty tight and is honestly the only reason I play the wii. So I don’t have to hunt down all the old consoles and their games. Online gaming is pretty weak, no chat and you can only use pre-programmed messages like “That was fun” or “Let’s Play Again” and you can’t change them. The wii processor sucks and therefore lags big time in game play. Do what I do. Pull your modem off your comp and hook it up to the wii long enough to download your old favorites and then put it back on your pc. That is of course, if you want to buy the $30 adapter to buy $5 and $10 games.

Playing the games, definitely. Most people who have the ability to play Wii online would have a computer, so theres no need to go online with it, per say.
There are a lot of fun games to play online, like:
    Mario Strikers Charged
    Dr. Mario Rx
    Battalion Wars 2
    Mario Kart Wii
    Super Smash Bros Brawl

The virtual console and wiiware are the main reasons to go online, there are tons of download-able games to choose from, from classics like Ocarina of Time and Mario 3 to Streets of Rage 2 and Sonic the Hedgehog etc, and wiiware allows for developers that may not have the budget to release full fledged games a platform to release smaller games.
