How Come When I Turn My Wii Off The Light Turns Yellow Instead Of Red?

When I turn my Wii off the light turns yellow instead of red.
In the beginning it would shut off with a red light and for some reason it’s been yellow.
And my Wii is overheating!
What can I do to fix it?! Why is it yellow?!

    It’s on standby.
I had the same question i kept standing there waiting for it to go off and im like something is wrong lol. As you probably know by know nothing is wrong and its normal for the console to do that.

the yellow light means that you are connected to the Internet. you have nothing to worry about.

Yellow just means that it’s on standby. If there’s a new message or there’s an update, your Wii will start blinking blue.
If you want to turn it completely off, just go to the Wii menu, Click the Wii icon (Options), then click Wii settings, click the right arrow to get to Wii System Settings 2, then click on Wii Connect 24, then click on Standby Connection, then click off.
Don’t worry about the heat. It’s normal when you have it on standby.

Okay. When you turn it off and it’s yellow, it means that WiiConnect24 is turned on. WiiConnect24 is a service that lets you send messages to other Wii users, use the Everybody Votes and Check Mii Out Channels, and many other uses. If you want to turn WiiConnect24 off, go to Wii Settings, choose WiiConnect24, then choose OFF.
Yeah, WiiConnect24 makes the temperature rise when on standby, but it won’t damage the console. Just don’t store it in a tiny, suffocating place. If you do, THEN your Wii might be damaged.
If you’re still a little worried about it, then get a Wii intercooler, available at any video game store.
    I hope this helps!

it’s nothing bad really, it just means you have your wii connected to an internet service. its called “stand-by” mode, whenever a friend has sent a message, or nintendo sends you an update, your wii notifies you by blinking it’s blue LED. it only does it if you’re on stand-by mode though. yes the console does tend to heat up a bit while in stand-by mode. to fix this you can turn off stand-by mode by going to your system settings and disconnecting/turning off “wii connect 24″. you can easily go and turn it back on whenever you desire. also you could buy a nintendo wii intercooler (which looks awesome by the way) and it cools your system so it wont overheat. that way, you can keep stand-by mode on.
